Yulia Sergeeva was declared the winner of the ELI Young Lawyers Award 2023 at the opening reception for the ELI Annual General Meeting held at the Austrian Ministry of Justice in Vienna on 6 September. John North (member of the panel of judges and partner at UK Interleges member firm RWK Goodman) said: “Interleges has sponsored the ELI Young Lawyers Award for the last 6 years because it shares many of the same values as the ELI and, in particular, recognises the importance of encouraging young lawyers as the voices and leaders of the legal profession in the future. Yulia Sergeeva joins a group of worthy past winners of the ELI Young Lawyers Award. Her winning submission on “The Green Energy Transition Puzzle: Energy Communities as a Missing Piece” persuasively argues that Energy Communities can have a valuable role to play in the development of a sustainable and secure energy system provided that a robust legal framework is put in place to encourage their use.”

Also present at the ELI Annual General Meeting were Denis Philippe (President of Interleges and partner at Philippe & Partners (Brussels)) and Paul Keane (former President of Interleges and a Consultant at Reddy Charlton (Dublin)).
